BCC Lacrosse
The spring of 2007 will mark the tenth year of varsity lacrosse at BCC. The Hornets participate in the ultra-competitive Region III lacrosse conference, which featured six of the top ten teams in the country last year. The Hornets finished the 2006 season with an 11-4 record and were ranked ninth in the nation by the NJCAA Coaches Poll. Broome defeated Cayuga Community College in the Region III quarter-finals and lost in the semi-finals to the eventual national champion Onondaga Community College. The 2006 BCC lacrosse team tied the '05 team's wins record with 11 victories.
The 2007 Hornet's lacrosse team will rely on a strong class of second-year players to lead this year's team to a potential third consecutive Region III playoff berth.
Coach Ted Hust and his staff have compiled a 29-12 win/loss record in their three seasons at the helm. In this time, Broome has become one of the most respected lacrosse programs in the NJCAA. Over the past two years, the Hornets have 22 wins and only seven losses. They have posted five victories over nationally ranked opponents. BCC plays an up-tempo style of lacrosse averaging 14 goals per game in "06. This allows the offensive players the freedon to showcase their talents on many different levels. Defensively the Hornets are one of the stingiest teams in the country, only allowing their opponents an average of seven goals per game. The Hornets also posted two shutout victories in '06.
Broome will begin their fall season with a meeting on Wednesday, August 30, which will be held in the Events Room of the Ice Center. The meeting starts at 5 p.m. and all players interested in participating in the fall and spring are expected to attend.
