Welcome to BCC's EMT/Paramedic web pages. Here you will find information that will help you learn about our program, philosophies, goals, and requirements for potential students.

Paramedic care is the highest level of pre-hospital care provided to patients in emergency situations. Our program prepares you to administer that care in eventual job settings, such as fire department ambulance services.

This National Curriculum program requires hospital clinical hours and a field internship. BCC's program is offered in affiliation with Lourdes Hospital and UHS. The program includes 336 hours, 233 lab hours, 251 clinical hours, 260 internship hours, and 120 internship evaluation hours. Students earn a minimum of 36 college credit hours through BCC.

Clinical rotations allow students to develop confidence dealing with patients and perform skills in a controlled environment. A field internship allows the student to integrate knowledge from the classroom with hands-on skills developed in the clinical rotations and apply them to field practice under the supervision of a paramedic preceptor.

Successful course completion allows students to:
- Become eligible for certification as a Paramedic in New York State;
- Meet eligibility requirements to become a Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic;
- Become eligible to complete AAS Paramedicine through BCC.
