A radiographer may continue education in areas such as sonography, nuclear medicine, cardiovascular-interventional techniques, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), fusion technology (PETCT), PACS Administrator, quality management, bone densitometry, research, education, registered radiologist assistant and radiation therapy. BCC’s Radiologic Technology Program consists of two years of combined academic and clinical education, the equivalent of 21 calendar months.

Clinical education is provided in cooperating hospitals. Of a 40-hour/week schedule, students spend approximately one-third of their time in professional and general education courses at the college, and the remaining two-thirds in the college laboratory or in the hospital.

Upon completion of the academic and clinical competencies required for the program, the graduate is eligible to sit for the examination of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. All graduates must pass the ARRT examination to attain New York State Licensure in order to work in New York State.
