Courses I usually teach: ECE 110, Introduction to Early Childhood
Education ECE 190, Infants, Toddlers & Families
Background: Education - B.A. in Psychology and Women's
Studies from the University of Rochester - M.A. in Child Development
and Family Relationships from the University of Texas at Austin
Work Experience: I have been teaching as an adjunct instructor
at BCC since 2001. Prior to that I spent several years as a Master
Teacher in the Child and Family Laboratory at the University of
Texas at Austin. I taught all ages from 9 months to 5 years but
specialized in infants and toddlers. As a Master Teacher I devoted
much of my time mentoring undergraduates whose goal it was work
with young children.
Philosophy Statement: "An ounce of prevention is
worth a pound of cure." I believe that caregivers, teachers
and policy makers need to take advantage of their potential to
have a positive influence on our society through the children
and families they serve. Everyone benefits when we invest in our
children.
