Group Project

Selection of Project:  You may choose any project, actual or hypothetical, provided it is:
a) acceptable to the instructor
b) utilizes (at least) the principles covered in Chapters 1 through 4, and Chapter 7
You may not select a project which is essentially a copy of a problem in the textbook.

Presentation: Your group will be expected to make an appointment to present your project (oral report) with the instructor at least 5 class weeks before the end of the course. You will have a screen, computer, and projector available.

Report:  Your written report will be due 1 week before the end of the course.  Written reports that are submitted later than this will not be graded and will receive a zero.  It must be typed (standard paper, one side only) and have a title page, table of contents, summary, body, and references, in addition to other sections that are dictated by the nature of the project.  Equations must be typed using an equation editor.  Each section must begin on a new page.

Grading:  The written report and the presentation (oral report) are each worth 50 points.  Each person in the group will be evaluated regarding his/her contributions; it is possible that group members' grades will vary depending on their contributions.  The written report will be graded on its mathematical correctness, grammar, spelling, style of writing, clarity, and brevity, as well as other criteria usually applied to a written report.  The preparation of the group, appearance, clarity of the presentation, knowledge of the subject, and other citeria usually applied to presentations will be used to assign a grade to the oral report.

Puzzle:  This is a group puzzle; submissions from individuals will not be accepted.  The first group submitting the correct crossword solution will receive a pizza.
