The XP install process is usually easy on a new hard drive – in with the CD and it takes over.
This can take time. We’re spending today’s entire class on this. Use your free moments to read the articles to the right – these are opinions and intended to help with different types of installation.

Lets attempt to connect the projector to the computer so everyone can see what’s going on.
Lab work:
Use parts of Lab 5.4 in Andrews as appropriate to learn about the motherboard.
You’ll each be writing a report on this project.

Finish assembly of computer – start to load XP.
Our department technician, Don, will provide the XP disk and secret codes ..

Today we want to look at the first 2 PC’s built by Verizon students – check their condition, get them working.

You’re working on a detailed report regarding building a computer and loading the software.

Today – finish and submit your report on building a computer and loading software.
Include the experience of shopping for parts ( what characteristics did we look for ), building the computer, and the various driver and software packages we loaded. Can you build your own computer now ?
Your report should include images to enhance the presentation. Write this as a ‘how to’ guide.

As you’ve seen, I use Google to answer questions and find information. Altavista is another good search engine – you probably have your own favorite.
Today, learn about NetMeeting. What is it, what does it do. Find it, load it, use it, get us hooked up. I leave this entirely to you to get into. We’ll continue on this next week if needed.
