Subject:          Getting started !

Welcome to the Internet assisted version of Computers in Technology!

There will be a first meeting of this course on campus, Wednesday, August 29th at 7:30am in AT019.  This will be an optional session where we see how to log on to BCC computers, and get connected with WebCT.  Here's how to get started:

WebCT is the software the college is using for this course.  You can start immediately if you have access to the Internet.

Go to  http://bcctoday.sunybroome.edu

Follow the instructions to obtain your BCCToday account username and password.

Once logged on to Pipeline, click the My Courses tab, and click on the link to CST 106 Computers for Technology. If you have difficulty, call the computer center at 778-5011.

If you've gotten this far, you are registered for the course and you should see the Computers in Technology page.  Select it.

Read over the Syllabus carefully.  There will be a quiz on the syllabus. The syllabus outlines the requirements for the course.  Explore the website. Proceed to assignment #1 immediately.  Your first work is due to me via E-mail Tuesday, September 4th.

If you are new to computing, I expect to see you Wednesday morning at 7:30am.  If you are able to get logged on to WebCT successfully and find the syllabus, there is no need for you to attend this session.  If this is the case, please E-mail me so I will know you are getting started with the material.

Much of the material in this course is in the packet of books required for the course.  When you have questions,  E-mail either of my addresses.

I look forward to a good semester with you.  Be sure to carefully read the syllabus.
