To finish this course, all you need to do is work ahead on your assignments, get the work in by the deadline, and stay in contact with the instructor.
Most of you will do this - no need to read further.
Realities:
You must be involved in this course. Read and study all materials. Learn as much as you can. Plan on 12 hours working on this course a week. Spread the time out over the course of the week.
Taking an on line course means you don't have to appear in a classroom.
But somehow, you have to account for the four hours of class you are missing on campus each week.
If you were absent from as many as four classes on campus - you would be removed from a course.
That will happen here too.
So, these are your rules:
Work must be submitted by the deadline - it must be complete. Assignments often have several parts that must be submitted at once.
READ the instructions carefully. READ all E-mail carefully.
Partial work will be considered the same as 'no work'. You're marked absent for the week, and you will be locked out of the course. Your financial aid will be in extreme jeopardy for all courses.
If you find you are locked out, you must contact me immediately. You may or may not be returned to active status. Two times - you can spend your time working on another course.
The ticket to continuing on the next week's assignments, quizzes, projects or exams is to be 'current' with your assignments. It is not possible to 'miss' anything. All assigned work must be completed.
If you fail to respond to an E-mail request from the instructor for TWO days - you will be locked out of the course.
If you become ill or a family situation arises - you or someone close to you must contact me. Either by phone or E-mail. Sometimes situations arise and you can't take a test - be in touch with me.
There are no Incomplete (I) grades for this course. Plan ahead - work on what's assigned well ahead of the deadline. When you have questions about something, E-mail me.
YOUR E-mail - you must rely on your BCC E-mail address. I will add 'outside' E-mail addresses to my distribution list, but they may not be reliable. NO AOL addresses will be permitted; AOL has too many E-mail problems.
For E-mail, use https://webmail.sunybroome.edu/
Deadlines: The WebCT system tracks your use of the system. Your time spent looking at assignments, etc is logged. E-mail received from you, and sent to you is preserved with dates, times, etc. Keep your own record of E-mail sent and received.
When assignments are graded you will receive a grade. WRITE THESE DOWN SOMEWHERE - YOU'LL NEED THEM IN THE 9TH WEEK.
If you have trouble making progress on a Project – E-mail me immediately – I’ll get you moving again – provided it is not the night of the deadline. This would indicate failure to work ahead on your part.
