6812 Lab 1 - Basic Logic Gates

In the lab you will need to know how to make a circuit with a switch and led. Switches are connected to inputs while LEDs are connected to outputs. Here are my circuits that you can use: Switch and LED Circuits

To find the pinouts of the chips refer to the technical reference above. All chips need to be given 5 volts and ground. When you look at a chip orient the pins down so you can read the label and orient the notch (a dimple) away from you. Pin 1 is now at the top left. The pins are numbered counter-clockwise. See picture. Most 74xx chips have pin 7 as ground and pin 14 as 5 volts.Numbering Pins of Chip

Also take a look at this example of how to use the protoboard. Each row of holes (on one side) is connected together. The outside vertical lines are connected. Use the ohm meter to verify your understanding.
